The average American in our major cities spends about a hour per day commuting to and from work. That is an hour wasted sitting in bumper to bumper traffic that at best is an opportunity to listen to the music or talk-radio.

Bauer Intelligent Transportation may have finally developed an attractive alternative for car loving Americans. They call it Wi-Drive! (Why drive, get it?) It is a luxurious 52 passenger bus with leather seats, WiFi internet service, work tables and even Peet’s coffee. Prices begin at $1.65 one way and go as high as $5+. A bargain for the ability to park the car and enjoy your commute while also taking care of emails. And you are improving our environment by not only using mass-transit but the buses run on bio-diesel.

Bauer IT is not new to this market space. They run a fleet of 200 vehicles and serve companies like Yahoo!, Cisco, Facebook and Walmart. In 2009 they were given the “Green Highway” award by the United Motorcoach Association and in 2008 were named “Operator of the Year” by Limousine Digest.

Currently Wi-Drive is just in San Francisco. It is growing its network of bus service across the Bay Area even as municipal bus service routes are being reduced due to the fiscal crisis. What a great story of green-entrepreneurship! And from what I can tell the company already has plans to begin extending service to other cities.

As outlined in The Secret Green Sauce™ (www.earth2017.com), Bauer IT is successfully executing a “cost less, mean more” green revenue growth strategy. They have aligned value with values by offering very competitive prices for a superior ecological result that also frees the customer to create value in what was formerly a time slot allocated to a mundane task. Their routes run between major destination points so catching one of their eco-buses is as easy as driving to a highway on-ramp. Bauer IT is yet another example why I am so optimistic on our country’s economic and environmental future. We have entrepreneurs like Gary Bauer who can figure out how to make money going green that will create jobs and cleaner air.
