Yesterday I had lunch in the future of our restaurant industry. It was at Amanda’s in Berkeley, California. The restaurant looked like any other fast food restaurant at lunch time. BUT, the menu was a stunner. I ordered the Real Veggieburger made with mushrooms and walnuts with an order of Organic Apple “Fries” with honey-yogurt dipping sauce. All for less than $6. And it tasted great. I had just had my first healthy fast food meal!
What Amanda’s Restaurant represents is a green-entrepreneur solution to our diet-based health issues like obesity and diabetes that is driving our health care costs beyond affordability. Look for a future Entrepreneur.com article on Amanda’s secret sauce for building a healthy fast food restaurant. And if you are in SF, take BART to the Berkeley Downtown station and walk across the street to Amanda’s to see The Green Economic Revolution producing fast food that costs less, means more (and it tastes great!).
